Adam's Focus

Public Safety

I believe public safety is paramount. I want the County we live in to be the safest in the Country. A place where criminals fear committing crime. A place where the community has faith in their law enforcement.

As Sheriff, I plan on taking a proactive approach to deterring crime and holding those who offend accountable.

Mental Health Crisis

Mental Health is one of the biggest issues our community and Law Enforcement face every day. We have to make this a priority and work collaboratively to address it. We cannot just pass the issue onto the hospital or the jail.

I will make this a priority, and have a proven track record of doing so.

Gang Related Crime

I am a firm believer in the “Broken Windows Theory” that suggests that signs of crime and disorder, like broken windows and graffiti, can create an environment that encourages more of the same behavior or worse.

I believe in a “zero-tolerance” for gang-type behavior and crime, and must be handled swiftly and to the fullest extent of the law.

Drugs & Opioid Crisis

I believe we have to get creative in addressing the drug and opioid crisis. It affects our communities and is a danger to every citizen in Douglas County. It is often linked to crimes like theft, burglary, and robbery, which affect us all.

We have to address this on several levels: educating the community about the dangers, holding those accountable who deal drugs to our citizens, and eradicating the trafficking of drugs into our communities. We do this by developing programs and working with federal and state partners to fight the war on drugs, by being a relentless force against those who try to poison our children and community.

Police Staffing

An issue facing most law enforcement agencies in the State. My goal would be to facilitate a culture that makes the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office a destination agency. I believe that a positive culture where each deputy feels valued and has a sense of ownership becomes your best recruiting asset.

I want to promote a culture where employees are not afraid to make decisions and where making mistakes is used as a learning tool, rather than a hammer held over them.

School Safety

I am a firm believer in School Resource Officers. The safety of our children should be given the highest priority.

I understand the world is shifting rapidly, and I want to be thoughtfully prepared for difficult scenarios long before they ever arise.

Training

I believe training is essential to remain proficient in law enforcement. I was always taught that “We don’t rise to the level of our expectations; we fall to the level of our training”. There is untapped talent within the ranks of Douglas County. There are opportunities for Douglas County to be the premier training hub in our state.

We will explore ideas to incorporate new and relevant training beyond checking a minimum standard box. We will make use of our discretionary time by preparing for the worst.

Protecting Your Rights

As Sheriff, I believe that protecting your Constitutional Rights is my primary duty. I will have the courage to uphold the Constitution and will not enforce laws that infringe upon your rights and government overreach.

I have sworn an Oath to our Country several times to protect the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, and I will continue to do so as your Sheriff.

“As Sheriff, I want to hear directly from the people I serve. The Sheriff’s Office should be connected to the community, and that begins with listening. My focus will be on strengthening relationships—with our residents, with city, county, and state leaders, and with every employee of the DCSO—so we can work together to address the issues that matter to you. Your voice will be heard, because I will be present, engaged, and committed to serving this community with transparency, balanced accountability, and integrity.”
